Once Mirage Dive is used three times and the full attention of the first brood is on the player, using Geirskogul will transform Blood of the Dragon into Life of the Dragon, temporarily upgrading Geirskogul into its more powerful variation, Nastrond. Beyond level 50, they learn the Blood of the Dragon skill, a buff which extends their weaponskill combos by 1-2 hits, increasing the damage dealt by their jumps, and allows use of the powerful AOE ability Geirskogul Blood of the Dragon's duration is extended with each combo finisher used, allowing the Dragoon to sustain the buff indefinitely as long as they continue attacking.īeyond level 60, Blood of the Dragon also enables the use of the Mirage Dive ability after using a jump attack, turning the attention of the first brood onto the dragoon. It is this penetrative power that characterizes the dragoon.ĭragoon focuses on weaving Jump attacks between weaponskills, dealing heavy damage between each hit of their combos. Of all the things that are symbolic of the nation of Ishgard, few are more recognized than the dragoon. They also have Blood for Blood, a potent self-buff that boosts the damage dealt and taken by the Lancer. They also have two weaponskills outside of combos: Heavy Thrust applies a buff that boosts the Lancer's damage, while Piercing Talon functions as a ranged attack. Instead, they have two combos: their standard True Thrust combo leads into heavy damage with Full Thrust, while their secondary Impulse Drive combo leads into a piercing damage debuff with Disembowel and a damage-over-time effect with Chaos Thrust. Their combos do not branch from a shared combo starter.
Lancers have the most weaponskills of any Discipline of War. They specialize on dealing heavy spike damage to single targets by attacking them from their flanks or backs or damaging multiple enemies at once when they are surrounded or packed tightly in line formations. Lancers attack with spears and are regarded as Damage Dealing classes. Since then, the guild has greatly expanded its armories to include a variety of weaponry, such as the throwing javelin. In former times, the longspear saw the most widespread use, due in great part to the influence of the proud lancer legions of Ala Mhigo. They are trained with a number of weapons, giving a diversity to their attacks that makes them extremely versatile combatants. The strategy of the lancers is to out-range and fluster opponents with their long, two-handed polearms, peppering them with a barrage of thrusting attacks.
